Phosphorous doping and drawing effects on the Raman spectroscopic properties of O=P bond in silica-based fiber and preform.

International audience; We report an experimental study of the doping and drawing effects on the Raman activities of phosphorus (P)-doped silica-based optical fiber and its related preform. Our data reveal a high sensitivity level in the full width at half maximum value of the 1330 cm−1 (O = P) Raman band to the P-doping level. Its increase with the P doping level does not clash with an increase in the disorder of the O = P surrendering matrix. In addition, we observe that in the central core region of the sample (higher doping level), the drawing process decreases the relative band amplitude. Irradiation effects in CaF2probed by Raman scattering

The formation conditions and dynamics of Ca colloids and point defects that appear in irradiated single crystals of CaF2 were investigated by Raman spectroscopy. The intensity changes in the Raman spectra because of the presence of different concentrations of point defects and Ca colloids that emerged in CaF2 after irradiation with 2.2 GeV Au ions were used to study their distribution and stability under illumination with three laser wavelengths (473, 532 and 633 nm) at different output powers (2 to 200 mW). A damage saturation at a fluence of 6 × 1011 ion cm−2 was observed. The dependence of the spectral changes on the ion fluence can be described by a core/halo damage cross-section model.…

Raman characterization of Pb2Na1−xLaxNb5−xFexO15 and Pb0.5(5−x)LaxNb5−xFexO15 (0≤x≤1) solid solutions

Abstract The ferroelectric compounds Pb 2 Na 1− x La x Nb 5− x Fe x O 15 and Pb 0.5(5− x ) La x Nb 5− x Fe x O 15 (0≤ x ≤1) with the tungsten bronze type structure have been investigated using Raman spectroscopy. The evolution of the spectra as a function of composition at room temperature is reported. In the frequency range 200–1000 cm −1 three main A 1 phonons around 240 ( υ 1 ), 630 ( υ 2 ) and 816 ( υ 3 ) cm −1 were observed. The broadening of the Raman lines for high values of x originates from a significant structural disorder. This is in good agreement with the relaxor character of these compositions. Direct observation of elemental segregation in InGaN nanowires by X-ray nanoprobe

Using synchrotron radiation nanoprobe, this work reports on the elemental distribution in single Inx Ga1–xN nanowires (NWs) grown by molecular beam epitaxy directly on Si(111) substrates. Single NWs dispersed on Al covered sapphire were characterized by nano-X-ray fluorescence, Raman scattering and photoluminescence spectroscopy. Both Ga and In maps reveal an inhomogeneous axial distribution inside sin- gle NWs. The analysis of NWs from the same sample but with different dimensions suggests a decrease of In segregation with the reduction of NW diameter, while Ga distribution seems to remain unaltered. High‐resolution stimulated Raman spectroscopy and analysis of line positions and assignments for the ν 2 and ν 3 bands of 13 C 2 H 4

High-resolution stimulated Raman spectra of13C2H4 in the regions of the ν2 and ν3 Raman active modes have been recorded at two temperatures (145 and 296 K) based on the quasi continuous-wave (cw) stimulated Raman spectrometer at Instituto de Estructura de la Materia IEM-CSIC in Madrid. A tensorial formalism adapted to X2Y4 planar asymmetric tops with D2h symmetry (developed in Dijon) and a program suite called D2hTDS (now part of the XTDS/SPVIEW spectroscopic software) were proposed to analyze and calculate the high-resolution spectra. Vibrational analysis of Ni(II)- and Cu(II)-octamethylchlorin by polarized resonance Raman and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy

We measured the polarized resonance Raman spectra of Cu(II)-2,2,7,8,12,13,17,18-octamethylchlorin in CS2 at various excitation wavenumbers in a spectral region covering the Qy, Qx and Bx optical absorption bands. Additionally, we measured the FTIR-Raman spectrum of the highly overcrowded spectral region between 1300 and 1450 cm−1. The spectral decomposition was carried out by a self-consistent global fit to all spectra obtained. Dynamics behind the long-lived coherences of I2 in solid Xe.

The absorption spectrum of I2 in solid Xe shows resolved zero-phonon lines and phonon side bands near the origin of the B←X transition (550-625 nm). The long-lived |B⟩⟨X| coherence in this energy range (T2 = 600 fs on average) emerges as vibrationally unrelaxed fluorescence in resonance Raman (RR) spectra. Upon excitation in the structureless continuum at 532 nm, the oscillatory RR progression exhibits electronic dephasing time of T2 = 150 fs. Two RR progressions with markedly different vibrational coherence on the X-state are observed. Optical and Acoustic Vibrations Confined in Anatase TiO2 Nanoparticles under High-Pressure

International audience; The effect of an applied high pressure on the optical and acoustic vibrations of small anatase TiO2 nanoparticles is studied using Raman scattering. All the Raman peaks show a significant variation of their frequency with pressure, except for the low-frequency peak which is due to acoustic vibrations confined in the nanoparticles. These variations (or lack thereof) are compared to first-principles calculations of the stiffness tensor and phonons of bulk anatase TiO2 as a function of pressure. In particular, the variation of the shape of the low-frequency peak is explained by the increase of the elastic anisotropy of anatase TiO2 as pressure is increased.

CARS spectroscopy of CH4 for implication of temperature measurements in supercritical LOX/CH4 combustion

International audience; Experimental and theoretical investigations of coherent anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy of CH4 have been carried out. Experimental spectra were measured in a heated high-pressure test cell and compared with numerical simulations. Good agreement was obtained for the temperature and the pressure dependence of CARS spectra in the ranges 300-1100 K and 0.1-5.0 MPa. The observed dependencies provide useful guidance for CARS thermometry, allowing quantitative measurements of temperature in high-pressure combustors.
